About the $2 Battleship Note
Federal Reserve Bank Notes were first issued in 1915 in the denominations of $5, $10, and $20. The designs found on the notes largely matched those of the National Bank Notes already in circulation in the US at that time. These $2 Federal Reserve Bank Notes come from the 1918 Series, an emergency issue that introduced $1, $2, and $50 notes
On the obverse of 1918 $2 Federal Reserve Bank Notes is an effigy of President Thomas Jefferson. The center of the field has a large, printed notation of the specific branch bank that backed the note. The reverse features a New York Class Battleship of the United States Navy. giving it the nickname Battleship Note.
